It’s February!! I know everyone says it but seriously, where did January go? Amy from Knit Collage announced she is doing a “Finish It February”- just a simple way to try and get as many works in progresses done as possible, with a deadline. So, if you have any knit or crochet WIPS that you started and just haven’t finished, this is your month.
I thought I’d drop in and share what I’ll be working on. I actually just started a Penguono by Steven West just a couple of days ago so I don’t know if it is realistic to finish it by the end of February but I’m going to try! So far it seems to be going pretty fast. In just two days I have half of the back section done and that included pulling out about 15 rows because I wasn’t loving a color that I added. So far it is a very relaxing jacket to make! I’ve squeezed in rows here and there throughout the day while my kids were working on their (homeschooling) school work, after lunch when I usually make myself sit and rest for just a bit while the youngest is napping and in the evenings before bed watching TV with my husband.
Another thing I want to make is a faux fur throw rug. I bought a pattern for a faux fur wearable item that I was super excited about but ended up not working out. Lion Brand’s new Go For Faux yarn is so soft and so beautiful but the shedding is a real issue. I’ve heard some people say theirs didn’t shed and certain colors don’t shed but comments like that have been all over the place. I can’t recommend the yarn for wearable items since I didn’t have very good luck with it. With that said, I did make a faux fur stole that I love. It will leave a little fuzz on darks but nothing major since it’s a stole that sits across your shoulders. I’ll share the simple pattern soon. I’m hoping to put the yarn to good use and make a cozy rug for my side of the bed. I don’t think it will take long to do and will look very pretty! And if all else fails, this yarn will look so pretty tied around Christmas gifts next December! Ha!
The final WIP I have going on is a summer Tee with We Are Knitters beautiful Pima Cotton yarn. It’s the hand painted color way and it is colorful, crazy and I just adore it. If I don’t get this one finished this month, that’s okay because it’s a summer item so not a huge rush to have it done asap.
So that is all for my “Finish It February” list. Join in, use the hash tag #finishitfebruary so we can all see what everyone is working on!!
